Suffering from Shoulder Pain? At Bendigo Osteo our Osteopaths are trained to assess and treat Shoulder Pain or Injury.

Shoulder pain can be very debilitating and complex. It also varies considerably from person to person. Your pain could be mild to server. It could be experienced in your shoulder blade, deep in the joint, or at the front of your arm. The pain can also radiate down your arm, and or cause weakness, tingling or numbness in the hands. For some it feels like it ‘catches’ and it can significantly decrease your range of motion making life very difficult!

What causes Shoulder Problems?

The shoulder joint is one of the most complex joints in the body. It has minimal contact points, which allows it to have maximum movement. But with this mobility, the joint is not as stable, making it prone to injury and wear and tear.

Shoulder pain is most commonly caused by musculoskeletal strain due to poor posture, repetitive movements or trauma (eg: sport injury, work accidents).

Shoulder problems are generally categorised based on the location and cause of the pain. It may be a rotator cuff tear, separation of the acromioclavicular joint, tendonitis, shoulder impingement (subacromial bursitis), frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), or shoulder dislocation or instability. Shoulder pain can also be caused by osteoarthritis/arthritis or musculoskeletal problems in the neck or back.

How can Osteopathy help?

At Bendigo Osteo, Osteopathic treatment aims at identifying the cause of pain and restriction. Then we work together to decrease the tension in the associated muscles, tendons and ligaments. This will allow for improved movement and function.

Our Osteopaths use a range of hands-on treatment methods and may give advice about rehabilitative exercise, posture and work habits. Never been to an Osteopath before? Click here.

If your shoulder injury has been caused by a work accident you may be eligible for a rebate if you are on a Work Cover Claim.
