Pelvic Health Care in Bendigo
Osteopathy and Pelvic Health Care
Pelvic health problems can be both physically and emotionally complex. At Bendigo Osteo we are delighted to have Dr Maddy Goelling who treats women’s pelvic health and offers a sensitive and holistic hands-on approach to care. She is also one of few allied health practitioners who provides both external and internal therapy* in Bendigo.
The pelvic floor supports a significant number of functions of the body. This includes breathing, child-birth, digestion, sexual function, bowel movement, urination, walking and lifting. The aim of Osteopathy is to restore normal functioning of the pelvic region by assessing and treating the complex interrelationship that exists within it. If you have never been to an Osteopathy before, we suggest you check this link here.
Common pelvic health conditions that Maddy may assist you with include;
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction – Urinary problems (leakage, urgency, incontinence), pressure and pain in pelvic region and rectum, and discomfort during sexual intercourse.
Pelvic Organ Prolapse- When one or more of the pelvic organs (uterus, bowel, bladder, vagina) changes it position in or out of the vaginal canal.
Pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy – Pain in the back or front of the pelvis, buttock, groin and thighs, with possible clicking/locking/grinding in the pelvic joint.
Post partum check up – Especially helpful if had episiotomy or tear and managing other common postpartum conditions such as bladder and bowel problems and hemorrhoids.
Vaginismus – the body’s automatic reaction to fear of vaginal penetration.
Pudendal Neuralgia – Chronic Pain that originates from damage/irritation to the pudendal nerve (main pelvic floor nerve)
